Beekeeping Class - Swarms & Splits

Swarming is part of being a bee. Dealing with swarms is part of being a beekeeper! Knowing what to do and when to do it can be tricky, even for experienced beekeepers.

In this class, we'll talk about why bees swarm and what happens in the hive as a result. Keeping in mind your goals as a beekeeper, you may be simply watching for signs of swarming to learn more about the colony, or you may be actively trying to prevent swarming.

We'll discuss swarm prevention methods, hive splitting techniques, as well as requeening methods. 

This will be a classroom-style class. No need to bring your protective gear.
