Beekeeping Class - Varroa Mites & Hive Health

In this class, we'll cover everyone's least favorite part of beekeeping: hive health issues. While we will certainly touch on other pests, this class will focus on the varroa mite. Varroa mites are one of the biggest threats to the health of honeybee colonies, and having a plan in place for managing these pests is an important part of keeping healthy colonies.

We will cover the various methods of testing or checking mite levels in the hive. We will also discuss the myriad of treatment options available, with a focus on those that we use here in our apiary. We will share our treatment schedule and what has worked well for us here.
